Meet Om Y. Nair — a visionary, resilient and purpose-driven senior from Mumbai, India, whose Spartan journey has been shaped by leadership, innovation and a deep love for community. Majoring in Applied Engineering Sciences with minors in Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Data Science, Om is a proud student of the College of Engineering and the Honors College. He is honored to represent Michigan State University on the 2025 Homecoming Court.

Since arriving at MSU, Om has embraced every challenge and triumph as an opportunity to grow and uplift others. Whether mentoring students, engaging in undergraduate research or championing international student inclusion, Om’s leadership reflects a broader mission: to help shape a campus — and a world — that is more equitable, empowered and forward-thinking.

His favorite place on campus is by the river in front of the library, where he’s found peace, connection and perspective during even the busiest days. It’s a spot that reminds him of how far he’s come and the community that’s walked alongside him. For Om, what makes MSU special is not only its world-class research and academic opportunities but the sincerity with which Spartans show up for one another — in adversity and in celebration.

Looking ahead, Om plans to pursue graduate studies in Data Science and eventually launch his own venture focused on real-world impact — whether in sustainability, tech or education. Long-term, he dreams of returning to MSU to give back by establishing a scholarship fund for students with big dreams and limited means.

As a Homecoming Court representative, Om is committed to reshaping outdated perceptions and spotlighting MSU’s excellence in academics, research and student leadership.

We are more than a party school — we are pioneers. Our researchers are curing diseases, developing sustainable solutions and launching startups from dorm rooms. Our spirit is loud, but our minds are louder. Being a Spartan means standing tall, striving boldly and building a future that reflects the very best of us. Together, we rise.
