Spartans demonstrated their collective impact during seminal events across the calendar year.
Each year in March, thousands of Spartans around the world come together on Give Green Day—a 24-hour, social media-driven campaign in which alumni clubs, as well as university faculty, staff, students and community members connect with their networks to spread the word about supporting MSU. Throughout the day and night, donors throw their support and their enthusiasm behind dozens of crowdfunding projects that make a difference for students and programs.
The annual Give Green Day campaign raised $1.55 million—the second highest amount in Give Green Day’s history—thanks to 7,073 donors. Over the past eight years, Give Green Day has raised over $8.7 million to support students. Next year’s campaign will take place on March 11, 2025.
Last year, several other very green days, supported MSU students, including:
- Giving Tuesday: 1,756 donors gave $405,600+ to support causes and initiatives university-wide.
- Asian Pacific Islander Desi American/Asian (APIDA/A) Heritage Month: Spartans celebrated the APIDA/A community by supporting scholarships, initiatives and cultural events for students.
- Black History Month: 97 donors gave $5,400+ to support initiatives promoting a culture of belonging at MSU and honoring the rich history of Black Spartans.
- EAGLE Native American Graduate Blanketing Ceremony: Spartans joined together to fund this ceremony and support Native American students on campus.
- Earth Day: 79 donors gave $5,700+ to support people and programs at MSU building a more sustainable future.
- Hispanic Heritage Month: The Spartan community strengthened resources and scholarships serving Hispanic and Latinx students at MSU.
- Pride Month: Spartans supported students engaged with the Gender and Sexuality Campus Center at MSU.
- Veterans Day: 298 donors gave $30,700+ to support the Student Veterans Resource Center as well as other programs and scholarships serving the Spartan veteran community.
