POLITICAL SCIENCE ALUMNUS LEAVES POSITION AS GOV. SNYDER'S CHIEF OF STAFF

Dennis Muchmore will be transitioning from his job as chief of staff under Michigan Governor Rick Snyder. Effective January 20, 2016, Jarrod Agen will take over the position held by Muchmore for five years. Muchmore is joining Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP on February 1.

Honigman is headquartered in Detroit, with offices in Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, Kalamazoo and Lansing, Michigan and in Chicago, Illinois. The business law firm serves clients locally, nationally and internationally.

Muchmore will lead the firm’s Government Relations and Regulatory Practice Group. His responsibilities include tapping the talents of its current high-profile attorneys and helping to mentor and develop the next generation of attorneys, who will become leaders in this practice area.

Along with hiring Muchmore as a leader, the firm is expanding its public policy program and creating a faculty of current and previous Honigman attorneys that will provide specialized training opportunities for our attorneys and clients, as well as legislators, their staff members and employees who serve in leadership roles throughout state government agencies.

Muchmore received a Masters in Public Administration from Michigan State University in 1982 and continues to serve as a member of the Public Policy Advisory Board. In 1998, he received the Outstanding Alumnus Award from the College of Social Science, Public Administration Program.
