Delivering Hope

Researchers from MSU and the University of Oregon are reshaping the conversation around resilience in transgender and nonbinary communities and have given out over 10,000 postcards as symbols of unity.

Exploring how social and political climates impact lives, the study asked participants how they define and experience resilience. Artist Zeph Fishlyn then transformed their words into visually striking postcards.

What began as research artifacts have grown into symbols of visibility and hope. “Simple gestures, like receiving a postcard, can foster a sense of connection and support for trans and nonbinary individuals, reminding them that they matter,” said Jae Puckett, MSU associate professor in the Department of Psychology.
