Lansing Roller Derby is getting a major boost in athlete care thanks to a new partnership with MSU Health Care Sports Medicine, now the team’s official medical provider and sponsor. The partnership is “groundbreaking for amateur sports,” said Ali Jahr, the team’s president, coach and skater.

The clinic, which also supports MSU student-athletes and the community, will provide the team with access to health professionals, injury prevention and personalized guidance throughout the season.

“MSU Health Care Sports Medicine is laser focused on delivering the highest quality of care with expedited access to all area athletes,” said Dr. Micah Lissy, an orthopedic surgeon at MSU Health Care. “We are open to creating relationships with any group or team in the region.”

Many MSU alumni are part of the team (each with their own nickname) including, Ashley Carmichael, ’17, ’27 (Black Eyed Susie); Constance Snelling, ’03, ’04 (Mz.
