MSU ALUMNUS PROMOTED TO LEADERSHIP ROLE IN UTAH ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

Thomas C. Fisher, who holds both a Bachelor's of Science and Master's of Science from the college of Agriculture and Natural Resources, was promoted to brigadier general and assumed the role of Land Component Commander of the Utah Army National Guard from Brig. Gen. Val L. Peterson.

Fisher, a Snyderville Basin resident and county manager for the Summit County, has commanded Utah Army Guard’s 204th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade since August 2012 and has served in the military for more than 26 years. Fisher has received the Legion of Merit and multiple Meritorious Service Medals and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006.

“I am humbled and honored that Maj. Gen. Burton and Gov. Herbert are providing me the opportunity for continued service as the Land Component Commander,” said Fisher. “I look forward to working with the fine men and women of the Utah Army National Guard as we advance our readiness to serve, anywhere and everywhere, the call of our state or nation.”
