FORMER SPARTAN FOOTBALL STAR GIVES BACK TO COMMUNITY

Kirk Cousins led Spartan football to four bowl games as Quarterback during his time as a student and graduated in 2011 with a degree in Kinesiology. He currently plays quarterback for the Washington Redskins. In 2014, Cousins partnered with Every Child Fed, an international non-profit dedicated to ending preventable child deaths caused by severe acute malnutrition, to volunteer at local events.
The organization is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, and Cousins will serve as a member of the US Board of Directors.
Cousins says, “I believe that every child should have the opportunity to live out their God given potential. It's unacceptable that in today's world, children are starving to death. I am impressed with the entrepreneurial and sustainable approach that ECF takes and I’m honored to be a part of this team.”
Founded in 2011, Every Child Fed (ECF) is a nonprofit organization that believes no child should die of starvation. ECF works to ensure that every child suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition has access to life-saving Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food to survive. Instead of importing RUTF from abroad, ECF establishes local production and distribution systems in the countries where it is needed.
Cousins and other ECF Board members volunteered at the Drive to Save Lives in 2015 and 2016. During the 2016 fundraiser, Cousins helped perform a demonstration preparing RUTF and spoke on its benefits and efficiency in saving lives of severely malnourished children.
