SPARTAN ALUMNUS TO MAKE PRESENTATION ON PRECISION MEDICINE ON CAMPUS

A Spartan alumnus is headed back to campus for a presentation on the future of precision medicine.
Vence Bonham Jr. '78, a senior advisor at the National Human Genome Research Institute of the National Institutes of Health, will discuss the Science of Precision Medicine at 2 p.m. Monday, November 2 in the Kellogg Center Auditorium. Bonham is also the co-chair of the Health Disparities and Community Engagement Team of the NIH Institutes and Centers Directors Planning Committee.
During his presentation, Bonham will discuss recommendations of the Precision Medicine Initiative to help 'reflect the diversity of the United State.'
The Precision Medicine Initiative was announced by President Barack Obama in his State of the Union Address on January 20, 2015. The goal is “to bring us closer to curing diseases like cancer and diabetes, and to give all of us access to the personalized information we need to keep ourselves and our families healthier.”
Bonham graduated from MSU with a degree in social science in 1978.
