MSUAA OFFICIAL IS FIRST FEMALE LEADER OF KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL

Kiwanis is going green.
On October 1st, Sue Petrisin became the first female president of Kiwanis International. Kiwanis is an international service organization with more than 630,000 members making a difference in children’s lives all across the globe.
Petrisin is currently the assistant director of Alumni Programs at Michigan State University.
"It's truly an honor to be the first woman president of Kiwanis International," Petrisin said. "Most importantly, it's an honor to serve alongside men and women around the world who are dedicated to improving the lives of children, in their communities and in places they'll never visit."
For Kiwanis’ 100th anniversary this year, Petrisin is among 15 other women who will serve alongside her as either district leaders or governors. She was one of the first women to join East Lansing’s club in 1987, when women were first admitted.
Petrisin holds three degrees from MSU, including bachelor’s degrees food science ('85), and dietetics ('92). She also has a master’s degree in human resources and labor relations ('09).
