Carrie Hummel was named a recipient of the California State Assembly’s “Woman of the Year” award for the 68th State Assembly District (central Orange County).  She was honored at a special ceremony in early March on the Assembly Chamber floor of the State Capitol in Sacramento.

“Carrie Hummel has been an engaged and active resident in the Orange and Villa Park communities for nearly thirty years,” said Donald P. Wagner, a 68th district assembly member, in his nomination letter.

Hummel has volunteered for numerous organizations, including numerous elementary, middle and high schools, Meals on Wheels, the YWCA of Orange, the American Cancer Society and Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation, just to name a few.

Hummel was born in Chicago and raised in Michigan.  She is a 1975 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and received her bachelor’s degree in music from Albion College in 1979. After her undergraduate career, Hummel received her master’s degree in 1981 from Michigan State University’s College of Communication Arts and Sciences.
