MSU GRAD IS TEACHING STAR IN MISSISSIPPI

Michigan State University graduate Robin Carr, an assistant professor of voice and acting at the University of Southern Mississippi, has been recognized by the state of Mississippi’s Higher Education Appreciation program as a 2014 Outstanding Faculty honoree.  

Carr earned a bachelor’s degree in theatre at MSU in 1995. While at Southern Mississippi, she has won several directing awards for her work on such shows as Rent, Assassins, Talley's Folly, Ragtime, and Almost Maine.

She has also served on the American College Theatre Festival’s regional selection team and has shared her expertise worldwide, offering theater classes in Ireland and Australia.

In her time as both a teacher and director, Carr received a Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival National Grant, the Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education Excellence in Higher Education award, as well as a Lucas Endowment for Faculty Excellence and a Southern Miss Innovation Award for Creative Activities.
