MICHIGAN STATE GRAD IS AMERICA'S FAVORITE VETERINARIAN

Tim Hunt, '89 DVM, is being lauded as America's Favorite Veterinarian, an annual honor bestowed by the American Veterinary Medical Foundation.
The award celebrates extraordinary veterinary professionals practicing in all areas of veterinary medicine from private practice to public health, agriculture and academia.
Hunt works alongside 15 employees, with whom he said he shares his recognition. They're all based at Hunt's Bayshore Veterinary Clinic in Marquette, MI.
Here's what Hunt had to say after learning he'd won the competition:
"Growing up in Detroit, and by the age of 11, I knew that I wanted to be a vet. I also knew I wanted to go north and to enjoy the outdoors. At that time, I never imagined that I would end up moving to the Upper Peninsula, start my own veterinary hospital, or own 35 Alaskan huskies.
"I also never expected that my passion around pet nutrition would lead to another business venture, Dr Tim's Pet Food Company, a company that I started to improve the overall health of all animals.
"Racing sled dogs has allowed me the opportunity to see a lot of the world. I have raced through the United States and Canada, around the European Alps numerous times and have also completed the Iditarod with my own team of dogs."
