Spartan Olympians: Dwayne Norris

In 1994, Dwayne Norris helped Canada win the silver medal at the Winter Games in Lillehammer, Norway.
Norris is currently the general manager of the Frankfurt Lions professional ice hockey team in Germany, where he has played from 1996 to 2007 (for both Kölner Haie and for the Lions).
A native of St. John's, Newfoundland, he was a consistent force during his four years at MSU. In 1991-92, he scored 40 goals in 41 games for the Spartans to lead the nation and made first-team All-CCHA and first-team All-American. He led MSU to the Frozen Four, scoring a key goal in an upset of No. 1-ranked Maine during the NCAA tournament. At the 1990 World Junior Championships, he scored six points in seven games for Canada, including the winning goal in a 2-1 win over Czechoslovakia that clinched the gold medal.
Before moving to Germany, he played in both the NHL and the AHL, where he starred for the Cornwall Royals. In the NHL, he played with the Quebec Nordiques and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. Most recently he played in the Deutsche Eishockey-Liga for the Frankfurt Lions in Germany. Norris was drafted 127th overall by the Nordiques in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft and went on to play 20 regular season NHL games.
