Probably speed was the most common denominator of John L. Smith’s 2005 recruiting class, one he believes will provide some immediate help with six junior college players. “We kind of hit some home runs,” says Smith, perhaps referring to highly ranked recruits such as running backs Javon Ringer and A.J. Jimmerson, or top-rated New Jersey quarterback Dom Natale.

Three of MSU’s recruits, Natale, Bobby Jones and Diego Oquendo, are already enrolled and will participate in spring practice.
