ASIAN FORAY YIELDS MULTIPLE BENEFITS

A two-week trip to Asia last October has strengthened MSU's global connections and raised more than $2 million in private donations. President M. Peter McPherson led MSU's entourage, which included Dottie Mortimore, associate vice president and director of university development, Gill- Chin Lim, dean of international studies and programs, and Chuck Webb, executive director of the MSU Alumni Association. The group met with 500 alumni, 50 university presidents, and 30 prominent business and government officials--including South Korea's minister of education and Taiwan's ministers of state and defense. Many specific academic linkages were formed or strengthened, and MSU's global presence was dramatically enhanced.
